Policy Development and Planning Bureau

General Function:
The Policy Development and Planning Bureau (PDPB) is primarily responsible for providing leadership in the formulation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and plans of the Department and that of the Social Welfare and Development (SWD) sector. It shall also be responsible for the generation of resources and promotion of projects requiring financial assistance from foreign and local sources of specific projects of the Department, Local Government Unit, Non-Government Organizations, People’s Organizations and other intermediaries of social welfare and development. It shall coordinate the development and promotion of the Department’s policy reform and legislative agenda and in conducting basic and policy researches. It shall also be responsible in monitoring and assessment of compliance to international commitments.

Specific Functions:
1, Provide leadership in the formulation and assessment of policies and plans of the Department and that of the SWD sector;
2, Development, monitoring and evaluation of DSWD investment and resource generation plan;
3, Provide technical assistance in the development and packaging of proposals for external funding and management of externally funded projects;
4, Assessment of the Department’s contribution to international commitments related to SWD;
5, Determine priority needs for the conduct of research studies on areas of concern necessary for decision making, planning and policy formulation and legislative requirements;
6, Assessment of the Department’s performance in the SWD sector;
7, Development of an advocacy plan to promote the Department’s policy reform and legislative agenda;
8, Ensure adherence of the DSWD units to the global and national goals (MDG, 10 pt agenda etc), MTPDP and to the Department’s corporate plan.
